Roadhouse Productions: Songs of America-For Patriotic Protests

$ 25.00

It’s July!  It is time to LET FREEDOM RING!  And what better way to do that than through the music of our great land.  From Francis Scott Key to Bruce Springsteen & beyond, the subject of America as a nation has long haunted our finest musicians and songwriters. Whether it’s Aaron Copeland, Leonard Bernstein or Billie Holiday, Nina Simone or Joan Baez, our great national pastime, along with baseball, has been singing about our country.

So, as the month of July brings us to the 249th birthday of our nation, The Fret House & Roadhouse Productions brings an evening of the Songs of America from our talented and innovative Roadhouse artists.  This will include songs from diverse genres, old and new, and always entertaining!  We will walk the fine line between the patriotic songs and those of the protest movements of times past & present.

Even the most patriotic songs of all time have often begun as expressions of protest, like “America the Beautiful” and “This Land is Your Land.”  But they have all pointed us to our greater ideals like freedom, tolerance, justice and equality for all.  For this show we will look beyond the partisan divide and celebrate the music that brings us together. Along the way you’ll hear traditional songs of patriotism and danceable, room shaking rock n roll.

So come to celebrate the songs of artists who have touched and moved us like Jimi Hendrix, Mary Gauthier, Judy Collins, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, The Kingston Trio, Joan Baez, Bobby Darin, and a few hand-picked originals from the most talented artists in the L.A. area.

Our bill includes the Roadhouse band Bartt Warburton, our musical director, Owen Goldman on drums & Matt Bunsen on bass. Our Roadhouse performers include Robert Morgan Fisher JK Jones, JP McDermott, Paul Mars Black of L.A. Guns, singer-songwriter, Feef, Karman Jeanne, Tim Tedrow, Michael Haynes, Tom Goetz, Deacon Joel Bennett, Tim Dismang, Jay Asher, The Licata Brothers, and Pat Nason.   \
